Cold Spring's Storyteller, Jonathan Kruk, Releases Rainbow Dragon CD
Cold Spring's storyteller, Jonathan Kruk, has made countless appearances along the Hudson. Garbed as a troubadour, a yankee doodle, and a Harry Potteresque wizard, he's performed for schools, libraries, and historic sites. Once upon a time, he even charmed the Chamber of Commerce.
Now, he's releasing a new CD: The Rainbow Dragon and Other Faerie Tales. It's a lively mix of adventures, inspired by the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen with a touch of the Hudson's magic. The title tale, a Jonathan original, features a lad who moves the sun to croon like Leon Redbone, leading to a monstrous encounter with a dragon. There are tales of a girl who gets a wolf to sing, a quest for a dangerous bird, plus another shape shifting dragon.
The Rainbow Dragon was recorded and produced in the Bronxville studio, The Loft, by local musician Al Hemberger. Known for his work with Rod Stewart, Rihanna and Annie and the Natural Wonder Band, Al's collaborating with Jonathan on his label Berger Platters. They already have another CD, Barkface and Rootnose in the can.
Come join Jonathan Kruk for a CD release party, this Thursday, December 20 from 5-7pm at The Foundry Cafe, 55 Main Street, Cold Spring. There'll be light fare food, a special performance with a Christmas touch by Jonathan and Al. The Rainbow Dragon will be available for just $10 to all attending the event. Call 265-9525 for details.
