Westchester Philharmonic Brings Chamber Concerts to Downtown White Plains

The Westchester Philharmonic and Westchester Arts Council warm up the winter months with Fridays with the Phil on January 18 and February 22 at 6:45pm, a series of chamber concerts that is part of the Arts Council's Live@ the Arts Exchange series in downtown White Plains. Concerts are shorter in length than the average musical event, running about an hour, and are conveniently timed to start at 6:45pm for local residents looking to add music to their Friday evening plans or for families interested in introducing music to younger audiences. The unique and intimate setting at The Arts Exchange also offers patrons a chance to get closer to the music.

The concert on January 18 will feature Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No. 1 with Philharmonic concertmaster Robert Chausow, violin; Roberta Cooper, cello; and Cory Smythe, piano. On February 22 principal French horn Peter Reit, principal oboist Melanie Feld and original Philharmonic member bassoonist Harry Searing will lead a sextet in a delightful set of Divertimenti by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Advance tickets are only $15 and at the door tickets are $20. Tickets for children under 12, Westchester Arts Council members, students and seniors are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Call the Arts Council at (914) 428-4220 x 223 for tickets. http://www.westarts.com/

The Westchester Philharmonic orchestra is the only fully-professional symphony orchestra devoted to serving the people of Westchester County. Now celebrating its 25th anniversary season, the Philharmonic fulfills its mission in the concert hall, in the community, and in the classroom. Under the direction of esteemed conductor Paul Lustig Dunkel, the Philharmonic performs a main stage Concert Series at the Performing Arts Center Purchase College. The Philharmonic also partners with local agencies to present free and low-cost concerts for all County residents, and its award-winning education program serves over 2,000 elementary school students.
