Village of Cold Spring to Receive Energy-Efficiency Grant From Senator Leibell
State Senator Vincent L. Leibell announced recently that he has secured a $45,000 grant to help finance energy-efficiency improvements at several buildings owned and operated by the Village of Cold Spring.
The grant is from the Petroleum Overcharge Restitution (POCR) funds, established from proceeds of court settlements relating to major oil company violations of federal price controls in the 1970's and 1980's. The New York Power Authority administers the funds in New York State.
"The village is embracing energy-efficiency as a way to cut electricity costs and reduce the cost of local government," said Senator Leibell, "It's also a great way to help improve the environment since the more electricity we save means less of a negative impact on our environment."
This grant will help pay for energy-efficiency measures at the Village Hall to include attic and roof insulation, installation of new high-efficiency lighting, in addition to energy saving improvements at the village fire station, and the wastewater treatment plant. These measures will save the village $6,300 in annual electricity costs.
