Think of What We Could Have Had Dear Editor:
Re: Phyllis Pustilnik's letter of last week
Phyllis, please relax. The lumberyard development looks great. Think of what we could have had. Remember my dear that you and I could have purchased the land for sixty thousand back in the good old days. That way you could have had your park or common area and I could have had my neighborhood with little shops on the first floor surrounded by winding walkways and gas lights. Wouldn't we both have been happy? But that is the "Shouldawoulda" scenario and, unfortunately, we didn't.
Now, the Disneyland-styled Victorian homes are up and many of them are sold, producing tax revenue for the entire village and that is a good thing. The developers are to be congratulated not condemned. It seems to me that they went out of their way to build a quality design with quality materials. The process works and you, Phyllis, were a part of it. You also should be congratulated for a fight well won.
Now let's hope we can do as well on the next project. By the way, where did the designers of Disneyland get their inspiration? From places like Cold Spring and aren't we proud of that.
