Haldane Middle School Students Warm the Hearts of Soldiers in Iraq By Carolyn Schaefer and Miranda Thompson
 | | Mrs.Joan Brocker, Miranda Thompson, Carolyn Schaefer, TJ Brennan & Mrs. Kelli Amnesi |
| Haldane Middle School Social Studies teachers Mrs. Joan Brocker and Mrs. Kelli Annesi and their classes collected and packed boxes filled with treats for soldiers in Iraq. Some of the goodies they received were hard candies, cereal, beef jerky and peanut butter. They also collected toiletries such as toothpaste and Q-tips. The students were excited about giving and wanted to let the soldiers know that they were supporting their efforts and care about them. The students were even more eager to give because they are sending the treats to Haldane graduates or close family friends of Haldane Middle School students. The gift boxes will be shipped to Ryan Bodge, Nick Vetere and Joey Luchetta.
"I think that the project really made the students aware of the community members involved in the war. The students really enjoyed giving and had fun doing it."
