Holiday Celebration at the Historic Van Wyck Homestead

On Thursday, December 27, 2007 from 6:30 to 9:30pm the Fishkill Historical Society will celebrate the holidays at the Van Wyck Homestead, located at 504 Route 9 ( Route 9 and Snook Rd) just south of I 84 in Fishkill. Come hear the Christmas and Hanukah stories told in the historic Cornelius Van Wyck House built in 1732, which was requisitioned by the Continental Army as officers' headquarters during the Revolutionary War. It was General Putnam's headquarters for a time and was visited by many notables, including George Washington, Gen. Lafayette, Baron von Steuben, Alexander Hamilton and John Jay.

The children will be making a Norwegian Christmas Basket, music will be played by the Group Nostalgia and refreshments, including chocolate de Los Tres Reyes, will be served in the 1732 kitchen by the fireplace. There is no admission fee. For more information call 897-4348 or 896-9560.
