Convert Ash Dump into Solar or Wind Power Station

Reprinted at the request of the sender;

Originally emailed to Linda Puglisi, Supervisor, Town of Cortlandt

I live in Continental Village, Garrison, Philipstown, Putnam County and though I've never voted for you, I've respected the work you've done in my neighboring town. I am a realtor with Houlihan Lawrence in Cold Spring and recently visited a house on the market in Continental Village. Instead of the Hudson River view I expected, there was a shining plastic land in the near distance. I realized it was the ash pit above Sprout Lake. I understand the garbage that is burned at RESCO at Charles Point in Peekskill generates electricity and turns the waste into ash and this is dumped on the property off Sprout Brook Road, on which my sister once lived and I travel on daily. While this is a necessary evil in this day and age, can we turn it into more than an eyesore. What about converting the ash dump it into a solar or wind power station? The land is on a high elevation and gets direct sunshine and wind. I think this would be cutting edge and you'd get so much positive publicity and perhaps government funding for your efforts. The aging nuclear facilities at Indian Point can be closed if we find alternative sources of clean energy. What a great concept! Garbage to ash (generating electricity), ash to solar or wind energy. Let me know if this is a possiblity you can and will pursue. It will be an opportunity to show neighboring villages, towns, cities and states that we can begin a grass root solution to a global problem utilizing landfills, garbage and cast-off materials to generate clean energy.
