BOCES Offers Survival Spanish Class for Teachers
BOCES' Northern Westchester Putnam Teacher Center is co-sponsoring Survival Spanish I for Teachers, along with the Hudson River Teacher Center. The workshop provides extensive training for non-Spanish-speaking classroom teachers who have Spanish speaking children in their classrooms, and utilizes phonetic encoding to help communicate with students in nonclassroom school settings, help teachers respond to medical emergencies, greet and give basic instructions to parents or visitors, and help identify student needs.
The workshop, which is open to administrators, teachers, teacher aides, and teacher assistants, will be held at the Garden Street School in Brewster on the following Wednesdays: February 27 and March 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2008. The course and book fee is $115, made payable to PNW BOCES, and there is a registration fee of $10, made payable to NWP Teacher Center. The registration deadline is Wednesday, February 20. To register for the workshop, or for more information, go to www.nwpteachercenter.yorktown.ny.us.
