Knights of Columbus Announces Free Throw Competition

Loretto Council, No. 536 is sponsoring the local level of the 2008 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship on Saturday, January 12 (snow date, January 19) at 1:30pm at the Capuchin Youth and Family Ministries Gym, Route 9D, Garrison. Registration will start at 1:15pm.

All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are invited to compete in their respective age division. Age eligibility is determined by the age of the contestant as of January 1. There is no cost to participate and proof of age will be required.

The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local, district, regional, and state competitions. The K of C international headquarters announces international champions based on scores from the state-level competitions. Last year more than 179,000 sharpshooters participated in over 3,000 local competitions.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with over 1.7 million members in nearly 12,500 councils. Last year, Knights donated over 60 million volunteer hours and over $130 million to charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.

For entry forms or additional information, contact Dan Dillon at 265-3802 or Youth Director Bob Flaherty at 265-3191.
