After many months of preparation, discussion, meetings, tours and debate, a proposed capital project for repairs and upgrades to the Haldane elementary and middle schools was outlined at a public information meeting held on January 29, 2008 by the Haldane School District. If Music Be the Food of Love, Play On...at Valentine's Fest This Saturday
The 1st annual Valentine Festivus - a family fest of music, cookie baking, and valentine making, all free, will take place this Saturday, February 9, at St. Mary's Parish Hall, from10:30am to 1pm. ARC in Greater NY Receives Grant for Computers at New Putnam Office

New York State Assembly Member Greg Ball recently presented the American Red Cross in Greater New York (ARC/GNY) with a $10,000 grant to help the organization install new computers at its Putnam County office (The Lawlor Building, Route 311 and 164, Patterson) and provide additional emergency preparedness presentations for residents and organizations throughout the county. Seniors Reminded to File for Enhanced STAR Program
The Putnam County Office for the Aging would like to remind senior citizens owning homes to file for the Enhanced STAR Program in their Town for tax relief purposes. This is for the property owed by a husband and wife, or by siblings, and only one of them must be 65 years of age. In order to file for this tax savings, you must apply for this program every year. The Butterfield Library Invites Children to a Royal Tea Party
In honor of Valentine's Day, The Julia L. Butterfield Library will host a Royal Tea Party on Saturday, February 9 at 1:30pm for ages 4 and up. At the party, children will have an opportunity to make "prince" and "princess" themed crafts and help to make some delicious treats to enjoy such as watermelon hearts. Full Story
