Ellen F. Kalhaus

Ellen F. Kalhaus, age 85, of Cold Spring, died on Friday, February 22, 2008 at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor.

Born in New York, NY on September 11, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Anna (Zikmund) Kalhaus.

Ms. Kalhaus, a graduate of St. Johns University, worked as a Paralegal for MacMillan Ringfree Oil Co. on Park Avenue in NY for many years before her retirement. She belonged to the St. John's University Alumni Association and was a member of AARP. A resident of Cold Spring since 1964, she was quite active in the Cold Spring Lion's Club and Our Lady of Loretto parish. She will be remembered as a very charitable woman who gave generously to numerous organizations.

Several cousins, including Adele Pudner of Edison NJ, and Lorraine Padner of Cranford, NJ and many friends, survive her. One sister, Mildred J. Kalhaus, predeceased her in 1995. Two cousins, Ann Padner and Frederick Auermuller, also predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, February 26 at Our Lady of Loretto Church, 24 Fair St., Cold Spring, followed by interment in Cold Spring Cemetery. Friends called at the Clinton Funeral Home, Cor. of Parrott and Pine Sts. (21 Parrott St.) Cold Spring, on Monday, February 25.
