Alois Kral

Alois Kral, 95, died April 3. Alois was a longtime Putnam Valley resident and member of the Putnam Valley Fire Department. He was the longest-living Past Master of the Cortlandt Lodge #34 F&AM in Peekskill, also serving as Head of the Peekskill Council, with memberships in the Royal Arch, Knights Templar and the York Cross of Honor. He was a member and Past Elder of the Peekskill Presbyterian Church, and served for many years on the Planning Boards of Putnam Valley and Putnam County. Al was also a longtime member and past president of the Putnam Valley School Board. He worked as an engineer, most notably as part of The Manhattan Project.

He is survived by his daughters, Kristie Kral of Mahopac, and Lois Kral of Yorktown Heights. He was predeceased by his wife Helen in 1995. The family received friends on April 6, 2008 at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home and services were held at the Funeral Home on April 7. Entombment followed at Rose Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 21, Putnam Valley, NY 10579 are appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to E.O. Curry Funeral Home, Inc.
