Haldane Board Finalizes Proposed 2008-09 Budget With 3.9% Tax Rate Increase

After months of planning, reports, discussion, revisions, best-estimates and further revisions, trustees for the Haldane School District last week approved the proposed 2008-2009 budget that will go to the voters as part of a May 20 referendum. The $19,996,258 budget represents a 7.33% spending increase over the previous year which translates into a 3.29% tax rate increase. Full Story

The Cold Spring Village Board of Trustees unanimously approved a preliminary budget last week that would require a 16.4% tax increase. And they vowed at the same time to spend two weeks finding ways to reduce the budget to avoid such a large increase. Full Story
