Putnam County to Study new Site for Kent Senior Center
Legislature approves multiple bond issues
The Putnam County Legislature unanimously approved the issuance of treasury bonds at their August 5, 2008 full Legislature meeting for three separate items. The largest of these, in the amount of $814 Thousand, would cover highway infrastructure and road repairs. Sheriff's Office Probes Lake Peekskill Residential Burglaries
Residents asked to be additional eyes and ears of law enforcement
The Putnam County Sheriff's Department is investigating a number of residential burglaries that have occurred in the Lake Peekskill section of the Town of Putnam Valley recently. According to Sheriff Don Smith, since May 16, 2008, the Sheriff's Office has received ten complaints of homes being unlawfully entered and items stolen from within. Full Story

Zenon Dubiel, age 54, of Cold Spring, NY, died on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Wingate at Beacon in Beacon NY. Born August 10, 1954 in Walbrzych, Poland, he is the son of Adela (Fudali) Dubiel and the late Zdzislaw Dubiel. Mr. Dubiel was an Electrician for General Motors in North Tarrytown, NY and was a member of the UAW, local #644, in Sleepy Hollow, NY. Full Story
