Jeanne D. Zablinis, a resident of Saratoga Springs, NY for seven years, and formerly of Cold Spring, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Saratoga Hospital.
Born in Manhattan, Jeanne was the youngest of 4. She attended Fordham University where she received her B.A. and M.A. in reading. Jeanne began her teaching career in New York City. Jeanne was the reading teacher at Haldane Central School for 26 years, and retired in 2001. During retirement, Jeanne became involved with the adult literacy program in Saratoga Springs.
She will be remembered as a free-spirited woman who touched the lives of those who knew her. She enjoyed traveling with her family across the country, loved camping and hiking, and was always up for an adventure. Friends and family enjoyed her stories, her humor, and her positive outlook on life; she always knew how to make light of difficult situations. She was an amazing mother, wife and a true friend and confidant.
Jeanne is survived by her husband William, two daughters Marakim Zablinis and Leah Cruz and her husband Dennis. The family expresses great appreciation to those people who made the trip up to Saratoga Springs to visit Jeanne in the hospital, and to provide support during such a difficult time.
Calling hours were held on Sunday, November 23, 2007 and Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Clinton Funeral Home, Cold Spring. As of this writing, a religious ceremony was set to take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 10am. At the closing of the ceremony, family and friends were to share memories. Interment was to follow at the Cold Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, www.psbi.org.
