Sidnee Allyn Merante

Sidnee Allyn Merante of Cold Spring, passed away Monday December 22, 2008 in Hudson Valley Hospital Center after a brief illness. Born on February 10, 1920 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Laura B. Allyn. On February 11, 1943 she married John R. Merante and the couple resided at their Orchard Street home in Cold Spring since 1948. She had four children. She is survived by sons Anthony (and wife Hiroko), and William (and wife Diane), John Jr. (and wife Carolyn) and daughter Laura. Mrs. Merante had seven grandchildren: Ryo, Peter, Zachary, Amy, Timothy, Steven, and David. She also had two great grandchildren Aidan and Matthew. Mrs. Merante was Vestry woman of St. Mary in the Highlands for fifty years and was well known for her love of classical opera.

Friends may call the Clinton Funeral Home in Cold Spring (265-3333) regarding arrangements. Calling hours will likely be Friday evening from 5-8pm with funeral services on Saturday morning.
