Putnam FCU Holds Successful 'Toys for Tots' Campaign

Putnam Federal Credit Union wrapped up its annual Toys For Tots toy drive on Wednesday December 19 2007. Employees raised $500 in cash, which was matched with an additional $500 contribution from the Credit Union.

The $1000 cash was used by several PFCU staff, who faced the holiday shopping crowds to purchase toys for the children of Putnam County. At the end of the day, these shopping "elves" had several shopping carts filled with bicycles, dolls, board games, and sports equipment.

This effort was coordinated by Santa's Helpers: Bobette Costella, Catherine O'Meara and Elaine Kacur. Additionally, a wide range of generous toys were dropped off by PFCU members at the Credit Union branches in Carmel and Brewster. The toys are being donated to the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign to be distributed to a long list of needy families in Putnam County by Christmas.

In 2007, Toys for Tots is celebrating its 60th anniversary of delivering hope to those less fortunate that someone cares. "Toys for Tots is a tremendous program, and it's a favorite at Putnam FCU," said Sal Gambino, PFCU's President/ CEO. "We're committed to making a difference in our community by local people helping local families."
