Baroque Orchestra at Graymoor Performance to Combat Winter Doldrums
The Baroque Orchestra of New York, a string ensemble in residence at Graymoor, will perform excerpts from Handel's Messiah and other uplifting Baroque music during their Winter Doldrums Concert on Sunday, January 27 at 4pm in Pilgrim Hall.
"This time of year can be dark and cold and affect people's moods. So can music in a positive way. Music can make anything better, even winter." says conductor Scott Mettey, a Garrison resident and the ensemble's founder.
The Baroque Orchestra of New York was formed in January of 2007 as a way for musicians of various ages from the Westchester and Putnam area to hone their musical skills. This concert is part of a series of performances to help raise funds for the purchase of harpsichord, an instrument featured heavily in the music of the period.
Cost of tickets is $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. For reservations, please call The Baroque Orchestra at 914-393-0805.
