Butterfield Library to Host Hudson Valley Writers Reading
The Julia L. Butterfield Memorial Library is pleased to welcome a number of the writers included in Riverine, an anthology of contemporary Hudson Valley writers edited by Laurence Carr (Codhill Press of New Paltz, NY, 2007) to a special reading and book signing on Saturday, January 12 at 3pm (Snow date Sunday, January 13 at 3pm) The volume includes short stories, memoirs, microfiction, prose poems and a wide range of poetry by over 75 poets and writers.
As described by the publisher, "Riverine celebrates the words of those authors who breathe the air of the Hudson Valley, drink its water, eat the harvest from its rich soil and convert these gifts into the gift of words that reflects our individual and collective lives. As long as a healthy Hudson River continues to flow through this valley (and part of our lives must be committed to its good health), the words of its writers will also continue to flow from lips and pens and pencils and keyboards."
The line-up of writers will include Will Nixon, Margo Stever, Brenda Connor-Bey, James Cotter, and Cold Spring's own Jo Pitkin, the organizer of the event. Prose writers include Annecy Baez, Jacob M. Appel, Christina Boyka Kluge, and Larry Carr who will also discuss compiling the anthology.
Following the readings, copies of Riverine will be available for purchase and to be signed by the authors. Refreshments will be served at this event.
To register, please call the Library at 265-3040 or email the Outreach and Programming Coordinator at mcgrathm@bestweb.net.
