Putnam Valley Lions Club Elects New Officers
The Putnam Valley Lions Club held a special emergency election on Thursday, December 27, 2007 to elect board members to fill the vacancies for the roles which are most vital to the continuation of their club. Virginia Melendez-Capodieci is the new President, Theodora Moeller has moved into the 1st Vice President position and Joseph Piechocniski has been elected as 2nd Vice President. Lion Lonnie Spinozza remains Treasurer and until they can fill the 3rd Vice President position, it will remain vacant. Grace Wagner and Bill Gouldman have accepted the Membership Co-Chairperson position. Virginia Melendez-Capodieci will also continue as the Secretary of the Club.
There will still be the regular general election in May, 2008 at which time any member who is in good standing with the club may choose to run for the Board. The PV Lions were fortunate to have Lions Paul Schettini and Rich Kingman from the District attend their election/meeting, share a meal, oversee the election and help advise for the new year. Lions Angelo Purcigliotti and Carl Anderson were not able to attend, but have been advised of the progress made and the PV Lions are indebted to them for all their guidance and perseverance in helping them keep the PV Lions alive and kicking!
The Lions have many new ideas and projects for 2008. Their next meeting is Monday, Jan. 14 at 7pm, at the VFW Post 391 when they will be graced with a visit from their District Governor, Frank Schettini. Please make every effort to attend their first meeting of the new year and show your support. Coffee and cake will be served. If you'd like to bring a snack to share, please do so. And don't forget, the post-holiday party/open-house on Jan. 20 at the VFW Post 391. There will be several door prizes and could use a few more tasty dishes to tempt the taste buds.
The Lions will continue to have their Second and Fourth Monday night meetings at VFW Post 391 in Putnam Valley thanks to the hospitality of Veterans Bob Ulrich. For additional information call 914-382-2671 or email PVLionsClub@hotmail.com
