Food for Thought - With Caution
To the Editor:

We who have worked so long on the Cold Spring Resident Survey are very pleased to have released the highlights and tabulations. We expect to make available the complete responses in a couple of weeks with clear headings and all the wonderful written comments.

The survey gives much food for thought in developing an updated comprehensive plan. But caution is needed in interpreting the results: The survey reflects the thoughts and opinions of 326 residents on the questions asked in May 2007- nothing more and nothing less. Some changes have occurred since May that might have modified some opinions. Also, the survey was not a referendum or vote, which would be preceded by much information and discussion.

The survey is a major source of community input. The October 20 public forum was another, and there will surely be more.

This brings much gratitude to everyone who gave such careful thought to their responses and more than 2500 written comments.
