Putnam Valley Musicians Spread Holiday Cheer
On Friday, December 21, several student musicians from the Putnam Valley High School Tri-M Music Honor Society put on their Santa hats and traveled to various local hospitals and nursing homes to spread some holiday cheer.
The "Jolly Troubadours," (as they have come to be known) were accompanied by PVHS band director Ryan Odell, and PVHS parent and local guitarist, Patrick Cummings. The group visited Hudson Valley Hospital Center, the Field Home-Holy Comforter in Cortlandt Manor, North Westchester Restorative Therapy and Nursing Center in Mohegan Lake, and The Seabury at Field Home in Cortlandt Manor
Mr. Odell, who co-advises the Tri-M Music Honor Society, said, "It is a great opportunity for the students to use their musical talents to spread a little cheer around the holidays for those who need it. I am very proud to work with these young musicians as they remind me of what this season is all about." PVHS senior Allie Huyghe added, "We've done this for a few years now, and every year it never ceases to amaze us how much joy it brings both to the patients and to the performers. To see a patient smile brings more joy than any material gift."

Also in December, the PVHS Make A Difference Club also made its annual visit to the Putnam Valley Senior Center and North Westchester Restorative Therapy and Nursing Center, for caroling, bingo, pictures with Santa, and refreshments.
