Sign-up for Indoor Lacrosse in Philipstown Rec Clinics on Saturday Nights
Beginning Saturday January 26 and running for eight weeks, the Philipstown Rec. Dept. is holding weekly Lacrosse Clinics for young boys and girls in the Recreation Center Gym. These non-contact winter sessions are one reason many Philipstown boys are succeeding on high school and modified school lacrosse teams in the spring. There are also approximately 50 Philipstown boys playing in grades 3-4 and 5-6 in the Hudson Valley Lacrosse League, as well as a handful of girls on area youth, high school and even college teams.
The start times for boys in grades 1-3 are from 5 -5:55pm; boys in grades 4-6 are from 6- 6:55pm and girls in grades 2-6 are playing from 7-8pm. The sessions are an opportunity to learn a bit more about the game, have scrimmages while getting a chance to spend time with other kids they may not already know. There will a new session introduced for 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys who want to get their skills ready for the spring. That session is from 8-9pm each Saturday. The Recreation Dept is charging residents $ 65 for the eight sessions.
All equipment is provided by Recreation for these non-contact sessions, yet players must have a stick. If you don't have one and need to borrow one, call Tim Donovan at 424-4214. In order to get a feel for what this is like in the spring, the Saturday program also features some of the coaches the boys and girls will have during the spring season. For more information and to register please contact the Philipstown Recreation Department at 424- 4618.
