Music for Four Voices at Arts on the Lake

Maggie Seligman
Kent resident and singer/ songwriter Maggie Seligman welcomes three of her musician friends on Friday, January 25 at an Arts on the Lake performance of Music for Four Voices.

Seligman, who has opened for singer/songwriter Christine Lavin and has performed at Pawling's Towne Crier Café, will be joined by award-winning flamenco guitarist Alan Goodman and singers/ songwriters/guitarists Sarah Chesler and Todd Giudice.

Seligman, a Herman Melville and John Steinbeck scholar, began her musical career as a child influenced by music and vocal styles of all types. She describes her music as "eclectic acoustic;" a repertoire that includes traditional, folk, jazz and standard selections. Her CD Rubato will be released this Spring.

Westchester County resident Alan Goodman spent a year living in Spain while leading a jazz trio and studying the history and origins of flamenco music. His three CDs of original solo instrumental guitar music are geared toward children. His two latest, Under the Bed and Backyard Guitar, have garnered numerous awards including the Parents' Choice Gold Award, NAPPA Honors and iParenting Media Award for best musical performance.

Todd Giudice has played at top NYC venues such as The Living Room, The Knitting Factory and The Bitter End. Giudice intertwines vivid, emotive storytelling, a roots- Americana fare, with wonderfully captivating melodies that evoke the sound of classic charttoppers. His latest CD, Little Known Secret, was hailed by Chronogram Magazine as being, "solid as stone."

Sweden-born Sarah Chesler began writing songs at age 12. She has appeared at The Bitter End, Caffe Vivaldi and Googles Lounge in NYC, Bistro Du Soleil in Norwalk, CT. and the Towne Crier Café in Pawling. Chesler blends piano and guitar based pop with definite jazz influences thus creating her own unique style.
