Chamber Jazz Recital: SFC Teddy Arnold, BassTrombone

Bass trombonist Sergeant 1st Class Teddy Arnold will be performing a variety of jazz standards and originals in a recital on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 3pm at the Jewish Chapel located at the United States Military Academy. SFC Arnold will be playing compositions and arrangements from the libraries of Charlie Parker, Wayne Shorter, J.J. Johnson, Nat King Cole, Count Basie and Nancy Wilson. Compositions will range from beautiful ballads such as It Never Entered My Mind, Portrait of Jennie and Blue and Sentimental to modern tunes such as Witch Hunt and Prince Albert. Also to be performed is On a Clear Day from the 1965 Broadway play of the same name, as well as Dolores Carla Maria written by Charles Fambrough, long time bassist with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. The three original compositions to be played are Kim-Bop, inspired by Korean food culture, Jerry's Blues, and From the Skies, inspired by the soaring legacy of Miles Davis.

SFC Arnold will be joined by SFC Scott Arcangel on piano, Staff Sergeants Derrick James on alto sax, Vito Speranza on trumpet, Brandon Nelson on bass, Scott Drewes on drums and Mr. Tomas Lopez on Latin percussion. This concert is free and open to the public.
