Hudson Highlands Nature Museum Presents: The History of Borden Home Farm, Wallkill Farm
Join the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum on Thursday, January 31, 7:30pm. at Painter's Tavern, 266 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, for an Evening Speakers Series: The History of Borden Home Farm, Wallkill Farm.
Join Rodney Stuart Thompson, caretaker of the "Borden Home Farm" for the past 17 years, as he shares the history and stories of this historical Wallkill location. In 1854, Gail Borden received a patent for condensing milk. Upon his death in 1874, his son, John Gail Borden, found himself president of five milk companies with an inheritance of three million dollars and a dream. His dream was to build Borden Park in Wallkill (also known as "Borden's Home Farm"), which he said would be a "park-like setting, where the Sir Knights can get away from the 'hustle and bustle' of the city and be at rest with nature and at peace with themselves" Come learn about this fascinating piece of history that is close to home.
All Evening Speakers Series events take place on Thursdays, 7:30pm at Painter's Tavern, 266 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on- Hudson, NY. Limited Seatingcome early. General admission $7, Museum members $4.
