State Police Report String of Residential Burglaries in Dutchess County Thieves thought to watch homeowners leave before entering homes
The New York State Police and Dutchess County Sheriffs Office are investigating a string of residential burglaries that have occurred over the last three months. The burglaries have taken place throughout the towns of Stanford, Pleasant Valley, Lagrange, Millbrook, Beekman, Pawling, Poughquag, Clinton, Milan and Rhinebeck.
The State Police believe that the perpetrators involved in the burglaries are watching the homeowners leave their homes before entering the residences. Stolen items usually include money, computers, electronics, guns, jewelry, tools and safes.
The State Police and Sheriffs Office urge everyone to take extra precautions when leaving their homes. Residents are reminded to lock their doors and set their alarms regardless of how short of time the home will be unoccupied. Police are also urging everyone to watch their neighborhoods for suspicious activity and suspicious vehicles. If something does not appear right, contact the police.
Anyone with information regarding the burglaries is encouraged to contact the New York State Police at 845-677- 7300 or the Dutchess County Sheriffs Office at 845-486- 3800. All information will be kept confidential.
