Cortlandt Manor Man Charged With Violation of Court Order in Putnam Valley
Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Cortlandt Manor man for violating an order of protection against his wife.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Department reports that upon complaint from a Putnam Valley woman, Deputy Sheriff Thomas Des Jardins was dispatched to the complainant's residence on January 1, 2008 to investigate a report of harassment. Upon the deputy's arrival, the complainant reported that her husband, Mr. Hugh F. Rennalls, Sr., aged 69, of Cortlandt Manor, had knocked on the front door of the residence and demanded to be let into the house. Mr. Rennalls left the area after the complainant reminded him that she held an active order of protection against him.
The deputy contacted Mr. Rennalls via telephone and advised him to turn himself in. Mr. Rennalls surrendered to the deputy on January 3, 2008 at 8:15am at the Sheriff's Department Putnam Valley Substation, where he was charged with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Mr. Rennalls was arraigned before Town Justice Louis Di Carlo and released in his own recognizance pending a February 14 court appearance. If convicted of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
