Daniel J. Hayden

Daniel J. Hayden, 70, of Cold Spring, passed away on January 15, 2008 at Hudson Valley Hospital Center.

Mr. Hayden had resided in Cold Spring since 1971, after moving from Queens, New York. He had been a Police Captain for the New York City Police Department, retiring in 1988 after 28 years of service. He was born on October 31, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Patrick and Christine Wynne Hayden.

An avid fisherman, Daniel was a very devoted family man. When he wasn't fishing, he was spending time with his family. Survivors include his brother, Richard Hayden, of Long Island, and six children: Patricia and her husband Paul Schiller of Hannacroix, NY; Joan and her husband Oscar Gonzalez of Beacon; Debra and her husband Richard Nairn of Cold Spring; Joseph Hayden and his wife Stephanie of Newburgh; Christine and her husband Russell Miller of Beacon and Daniel Hayden and his wife Lisa, of Wallkill. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Sarah, Matthew, Daniel, Elizabeth, Michael, Andrew, Marisa, Ian, Brittnee, Alyssa and Patrick, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Andrew Hayden.

A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, January 19, at St. Joachim's Church in Beacon, Father David Nolan officiated. Burial followed at Cold Spring Cemetery. Arrangements were made through Libby Funeral Home, Beacon.
