U.S Representative John Hall (D-NY19) announced today his twenty-one nominees for the United States Service Academy classes of 2012. If accepted by academy admissions, these young men and women will be offered the privilege of attending either the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United Stated Merchant Marine Academy or the United States Naval Academy.
"I have the fullest confidence that each of these outstanding students has the potential to excel not only as military officers, but as members of their communities and as American leaders," said Hall. "I am looking forward to watching their careers progress, and I wish them the best of luck as they continue down their path in service to our country."
In order to qualify for nomination, applicants undergo a rigorous review process. They were judged based on their scholastic aptitude via school transcripts and standardized test scores, a review of extracurricular and athletic activities, and the strength of personal and professional recommendations. Each applicant also had a formal interview with Congressman Hall's Academy Nominations Review Board, a 14-member group of men and women with a wide range of professional, military, and academic expertise.
Amy student interested in applying for a nomination from Congressman Hall for the classes of 2013 must file an application with the academy of interest by at least his or her junior year of high school.
