AHRC Sponsors Annual Bowl-a-Thon

On Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 12 noon until 4pm at Bowling Time Lanes on Route 9W in New Windsor, AHRC, a non-profit organization which assists the developmentally disabled, will hold its Bowl-athon.

This will be AHRC's fifth year for this community event. The purpose of the event is to invite the community, friends and families to come and share in a day of fun bowling with AHRC and the individuals they serve with developmental disabilities.

The day itself will be filled with door prizes and raffles along with Tom Furci from 100.7 WHUD the Hudson Valley music station who will be present to bowl a few games in support of AHRC and its programs. The cost is $3.50 per game and lane sponsorships are available. All proceeds will go towards AHRC's programs and services.

"Our consumers are very active individuals who love to show their skills off when ever the opportunity allows them to do so. Some of our consumers have belonged to bowling leagues for a number of years," shared Jim Burpoe, Director of Development.

AHRC is a nonprofit organization which serves over 2,600 individuals with developmental disabilities in 28 program locations throughout Orange County, as well as in private family homes. Our consumers range in age from infancy to senior citizen. AHRC provides service options tailored to the individuals in educational programs, adult day services, residential services, vocational training and supported employment, self-advocacy, transportation services, service coordination, Respite and residential habilitation, corporate guardianship and a community activities program.

For further information on the Bowl-a-thon or programs and services contact the AHRC Development office at 561- 0670 ext. 162.
