Poughkeepsie Man Charged With Driving With Suspended License
Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a City of Poughkeepsie man for driving with a suspended license.
According to the Sheriff, Deputy Sheriff Thomas Lee was on patrol in the Town of Philipstown on January 25, 2008 at 3:20am when he stopped a motorist for speeding on Route 9. An investigation revealed that the driver, Rafael R. Carrera, 48, of Poughkeepsie, held a suspended license. The deputy arrested Mr. Carrera and charged him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility, where he was released after posting $200.00 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Philipstown Justice Court on February 4, 2008 to answer the charge.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
