Putnam Valley Man Charged With Cocaine, Marijuana, Alcohol, Fireworks Possession
The Putnam County Sheriff's Department reports that Deputy Sheriff Thomas Lee was on patrol on Oscawana Lake Road in the Town of Putnam Valley on January 19, 2008 at 4:04am when he observed a motorist commit a moving violation. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Upon investigation, the deputy determined that the driver, Peter R. Noyer, Jr., 20, Putnam Valley, was in possession of marijuana, cocaine, cans of beer, and fireworks. The defendant was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor; Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the Fifth Degree, a misdemeanor; Unlawful Possession of Alcohol by a Person Under 21, a violation; and Unlawfully Dealing with Fireworks, a violation. The defendant was released into the custody of his father pending a future date in Putnam Valley Justice Court.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and fines of up to $2,000.
