A Reminder to Senator Leibell from a Constituent
To the Editor:

Several days ago I received a glossy, full color piece of mail from State Senator Vincent Leibell touting his recent elevation to chairman of the State Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security & Military Affairs. The mailing, paid for by the tax payers, features four photos of the Senator; one in Albany and the other three around Long Island and the environs of New York City. The last time I checked, the Senator's district comprising eastern Dutchess, all of Putnam and northern Westchester counties is nowhere near Long Island Sound.

While Mr. Leibell is busy puttering around in a skiff on Long Island Sound looking for terrorists, 20 and 40 foot containers are being unloaded and docked everyday across the Hudson with nary a check by US Customs. I should know; I am an engineer who works in the import business and barely one in every fifty containers are put on customs hold for security. Anything could be on these containers.

Perhaps Mr. Leibell has forgotten where his district is worrying about global security or has other things on his mind, perhaps his constituents should remind him who he represents.
