Half Moon Theatre Performs The Yellow Boat at Poughkeepsie Day School

Poughkeepsie Day School's professional theatre company in residence, Half Moon Theatre, presents the highly-acclaimed play, The Yellow Boat, by David Saar, in the school's James Earl Jones Theater, February 14-17 and February 21- 24.

A "theatrical work of stunning beauty, soaring spirit and imagination," the play has been honored by the American Alliance for Theatre and Education with its Distinguished Play Award, as a New Visions/New Voices Selection by the Kennedy Center and as recipient of the Outstanding Play Award from the Theatre for Young Audiences/USA. Based on a true story written by the father of an eight-year old boy who contracts HIV/AIDS, parent/ viewer discretion is advised.

The opening preview/paywhat you-can performance is Thursday, February 14 at 7:30pm. For more information about other performance times, reservations and ticket cost, visit Half Moon Theatre's Web site (www.halfmoontheatre.org) or call 845-235-9885.

Poughkeepsie Day School has been developing educated citizens with a passion for learning and living since 1934. The school opened with a record enrollment of 352 students this September. It seeks to promote curious and independent learners: critical thinkers who know how to ask questions and solve problems. Respect, responsibility and collaboration are among the hallmarks of the PDS school community. Typically, each year one-hundred per cent of the school's seniors who apply to college are admitted. Directions to the school can be found on the school's Web site (www.poughkeepsieday.org). For more information, contact the communications office (845-462-7600, extension 110).
