Hudson Valley Tourism Invites You to Heat Up the Winter
Don't hibernate this winter! The Hudson Valley is hot with so much activity, you won't have time to be cold.
What could be more warming than hot chocolate? The Chocolate World Expo on February 10 at the Palisades Center Mall in West Nyack features music, entertainment, and everything chocolate. Enjoy the demonstrations and chocolatethemed products, as you taste your way through a delicious afternoon. Across the river, it's a "Winter Break" in Westchester County at area hotels offering special packages with a variety of "extras" like dinner by candlelight, champagne and chocolates, in-room breakfast, late check-out and more at participating hotels.
Winter wonderland comes to The Thayer Hotel at West Point with their Ice Festival on February 23 and 24. The National Ice Carving Association oversees the competition of these incredible ice sculptures, and there's a wine tasting and craft show to warm you after your tour of these glassy artworks.
Meanwhile, hotels in Dutchess County are offering some sweetheart deals with special Valentine's Day Packages, including comedy shows, dinner for two, room specials, heartshaped Jacuzzi's, complimentary champagne and chocolate, dancing and much more. It's a great chance to get away for a romantic weekend.
Windham Mountain Ski Area is also onto lovers with a Sweethearts Race on February 10. Couples race down the slope in competition, and Cupid runs wild with prizes. Or try the 32 trails at Catamount Ski & Snowboarding Area in Hillsdale. Three terrain parks, six lifts, and childcare make it a destination for everyone. If that's not enough, then get on track for skiing and snowboarding lessons, plus some great downhill activities at the Thunder Ridge Ski Area in Patterson.
If you're feeling like Spring, hop over to New York in Bloom from February 22 to 24. Located at the New York State Museum, the event features more than 100 spectacular floral arrangements throughout the Museum, designed to complement the exhibitions.
