Kevin McConville of Cold Spring is Hudson Valley Hospital Center's 1000th Employee

When Kevin McConville entered Hudson Valley Hospital Center (HVHC) on Jan. 14, he not only began work as HVHC's new director of security, but became its 1,000th employee, a milestone in the hospital's 119 years and a reminder that HVHC fuels the region's economic engine.

"Hudson Valley Hospital Center understands its important roles as a major employer in the Hudson Valley and an outstanding health facility; we're growing daily to meet those needs," says John C. Federspiel, HVHC's president and CEO. "With each staff member hired, there is a ripple effect," he adds, "creating an important economic stimulus within our communities. The fact that we now employ 1,000 people is a testament to our commitment and responsibility of being an economic as well as health anchor in this region."

McConville has worked in law enforcement for 29 years, most recently as Chief of the Security Department for the MTA. Through his counter-terrorism training and emergency planning experience, McConville brings a thorough knowledge of protective services to HVHC. His past duties include serving as a liaison between the New York Police Department and Secret Service during Presidential visits; overseeing operations during the 2004 Republican National Convention and the 2005 Transit Strike; and interfacing with the FBI Joint Terrorist Task Force and New York State Intelligence Center.

"It's an honor that I can now work to improve the safety and security of patients, visitors and employees at Hudson Valley Hospital Center facilities."

McConville received his Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Masters in Public Administration from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He lives in Cold Spring, with his wife, an HVHC nurse for the past 15 years, and his three children.

Hudson Valley Hospital Center is located on Route 202 (1980 Crompond Road) in Cortlandt Manor. Call 914-737- 9000 or visit www.hvhc.org.
