Pancake Breakfast and Maple Sugaring at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum
The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum is holding its Annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, March 2, from 9am until 1pm in the Farmhouse at the Outdoor Discovery Center, 20 Kenridge Farm Drive, Route 9W South, Cornwall. Come enjoy pancakes, sausage, orange juice, coffee, and real maple syrup. Cost: $6 for adults and $4 for children (ages 3-10). This year the breakfast is generously sponsored by Hannaford's and proceeds will go towards the Museum's environmental education programs.
The Pancake Breakfast takes place during the time when Educators at the Museum tap the maple trees in the sugarbush for sap. The sap is then evaporated and turned into syrup. The public can see the maple syrup process in action for five weekends at the Maple Sugar Tours on Saturday and Sundays from February 23 until March 22, which is sponsored by Sotheby's. The tours begin at 11:30am and end at 3pm. (On March 2, there will be earlier tours for which Pancake Breakfast attendees can purchase tickets.) Tours begin every half hour and include a 45-minute walk into the sugarbush. The public is asked to dress warmly and wear boots. The cost for a tour is $7 per person. Museum members: $5 per person. Maple Sugar Tours are at the Museum's Outdoor Discovery Center, 20 Kenridge Farm Drive, Route 9W, Cornwall. For further information call (845) 534-5506, ext. 204.
