A Day of Family Fun at Thunder Ridge Ski Area Raises Funds for Haldane Elementary School Playground Renovations
On Friday, February 8, 2008, the Haldane community enjoyed a day of family fun at the Thunder Ridge Ski Area in Patterson, NY while approximately $900 was raised for the renovation of the Haldane Elementary School playground. The folks at Thunder Ridge Ski area offered an amazing discount on lift tickets, rentals and lessons luring close to 50 people that day and donated $720 to the Haldane PTA specifically for the playground renovation project. The remaining money was raised through private donation and a raffle prize.
Over the next few months, the Playground Committee with the Haldane PTA is planning to offer various, mainly family oriented, physically activebased fundraisers at a reasonable price. The next fundraiser is another ski event to take place at Thunder Ridge on March 1. This event will benefit the high school student's desperate need for outdoor seating. The Playground Committee is assisting the high school with choosing tables and benches that aesthetically reflect the design of that building.
