Clearwater Sponsors First- Annual Clearwater Environmental Short Film Competition
Clearwater, Inc., one of the oldest nonprofit, member-supported environmental groups, is now accepting video entries for the first-annual Clearwater Environmental Short Film Competition (CESFC). The CESFC is a national competition for new filmmakers, songwriters, musicians, and poets who are asked to share their concerns and interests for the environment through original videos up to three minute in length.
Following in the footsteps of Pete Seeger and his influence on the fabric of American folk music, the Clearwater organization seeks to inspire a new generation of people to use music and song as instruments for environmental change.
"Pete Seeger has always believed in the inspirational ability of music to educate people and raise awareness for important causes," said Jeff Rumpf, Executive Director of Clearwater. "The Clearwater Environmental Short Film Competition calls upon people of all ages to help continue Seeger's legacy, and encourage others to get involved and make a difference."
In order to be considered eligible, applicants must fill out a submission application, available online at www.Clearwater.org/competition. Videos must be posted on YouTube.com following guidelines set forth in the application. All videos must share the common theme of using music and song to raise interest and concern for the environment. Entries will be judged based on quality, creativity, and originality.
Applications must be submitted to Clearwater and video uploaded to YouTube by April 30, 2008, from which ten finalists will be chosen. These finalists will have their YouTube link appear on the Clearwater.org/competition website on June 1, 2008.
The top ten videos will premier at the annual Clearwater Music and Environmental Festival, June 21 and 22 at Croton Point Park in Westchester County, New York. Attendees to the two-day Festival will have a chance to vote for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
Winners will be announced on July 1, 2008. For more information, eligibility, submission application, and prizes go to www.Clearwater.org/competition or call 1-800-67-SLOOP.
