Local Author Brings Bear Mountain History to Life in New Book

Bear Mountain, home to one of the nation's most beautiful and outstanding parks, has been serving and pleasing the New York community for hundreds of years. During these years, the park and surroundings have been used for camping, hiking, boating, swimming, crosscountry skiing, zoos and restaurants.

In Bear Mountain, her second book with Arcadia Publishing, a leading publisher or local and regional history in the United States, Ronnie Clark Coffey has compiled over 200 vintages from public archives and private collections to share Bear Mountain's fascinating past.

Ronni Clark Coffey is a historical researcher, teacher and lecturer. She is a longtime resident of the Highlands and has frequented the park since childhood. She is the former Executive Director of the Constitution Island Association at West Point.
