Green Light Laser Technique Subject of Next Man to Man Prostate Cancer Support Group
The monthly Man to Man American Cancer Society Meeting will be held next on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 6:30pm at the Central Hudson Auditorium, located off of the Academy Exit, Route 9, in Poughkeepsie.
This month's speaker will be Dr. Jay Motola, a practicing urologist in NYC and Carmel and a well-published researcher in the field.
The green light laser has an eighty-watt power source and is able to deliver its energy via a fiber optic. It is inserted into the patient's urethra while he is under sedation. It will vaporize excess prostate tissue to allow normal urine flow. Blood loss is much lower than with TURP and the healing process is quicker
