Sheriff's Narcotics Enforcement Unit Arrests Four for Drug Trafficking
Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of four individuals suspected of dealing an assortment illegal drugs in the Towns of Kent, Patterson and Carmel. The arrests were the result of an extensive investigation into the sales of prescription medications; cocaine; crack cocaine; heroin; methadone; hydrocodone; klonipin and lortabs.
Undercover deputies and investigators developed information about the narcotics trafficking and over a period of six months were able to infiltrate the group. Last week Narcotics Enforcement Unit members arrested Barbara Brill, 43 years old of Route 6, Carmel, New York; Lisa Diamond, 48 years old, of Cottage Road, Lake Carmel, New York; Harry Tibbetts, 32 years old, of Potter Road, Mahopac Falls, New York and 37-year-old Darryl King of Maybury Circle, Waterbury, Connecticut. Each was charged with felony drug-related crimes.
Ms. Lisa Diamond is accused of selling methadone pills to an undercover deputy. She allegedly sold the narcotics from within her home. She is charged with 5 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, a class "D" felony and 4 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a class "C" felony. Ms. Diamond was arraigned before Kent Town Justice Peter Collins and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $6,000 bail.
Ms. Barbara Brill is accused of selling hydrocodone, lortab and klonipin pills to narcotics enforcement deputies from within her residence. She is charged with: 3 counts of Criminal Possession and Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, both class "C" felonies and Criminal Possession and Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, both class "D" felony crimes. Ms. Brill was arraigned before Kent Town Justice Peter Collins, on behalf of the Carmel Justice Court. She was remanded to jail in lieu of $10,000 ball.
Mr. Harry Tibbetts is charged with selling cocaine and heroin to others, including a sheriff's narcotics investigator, on numerous occasions at parking lots the Kent and Patterson areas. He was arrested in a Patterson shopping center and charged with 8 counts of Criminal Possession and' Safe of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, class "B" felonies. Mr. Tibbetts was arraigned before Kent Town Justice Peter Collins and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Mr. Darryl King was arrested after it was determined that he sold quantities of crack cocaine, cocaine and heroin while at a parking lot in the Town of Kent. Investigation revealed that Mr. King, a convicted felon and parole violator, was known to be armed with a handgun when conducting the transactions. Sheriff's narcotics investigators, assisted by Kent Police officers and members of the Putnam County Emergency Response Team, apprehended Mr. King without incident. Mr. King was not armed at the time of his arrest. Mr. King is charged with 9 counts of Criminal Possession and Sales of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, class "B" felonies. He too appeared before Kent Town Justice Peter Collins and remanded to jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
As a result of the arrests, narcotics Investigators seized illegal drugs, as well as, $750 in cash. Upon conviction of any of the most serious crimes, may result in the court imposing a sentence of imprisonment for a term of up to twenty-five years in a New York State correctional facility.
