Putnam County Office for Aging Sponsors Fall Prevention and Exercise Program
Putnam County Office for Aging, in conjunction with the Putnam County Health Department, is sponsoring a Fall Prevention and Exercise program available to all Putnam county seniors. Falls are the leading cause of injury and injury-related death among older adults, but many falls can be prevented. Exercise is one of the most important ways to reduce your chances of falling. Not only does exercise make you stronger and help you feel better, but lack of exercise leads to weakness and increases your chances of falling.
Physica1 Therapists will teach participants exercises designed to improve balance, increase strength and endurance, improve flexibility, and enhance range of motion. The hour-long classes will be held at four different locations:
-Fridays beginning March 7, from 11am - noon at Putnam Valley Nutrition Center, 117 Town Park Lane, Putnam Valley, (528-2662),
-Wednesdays, beginning March 5 from 11am-noon at Cold Spring Nutrition Center, American Legion Building on Cedar Street, Cold Spring (265- 3952),
-Tuesdays, beginning March 25 from 11am - noon at Koehler Senior Center, 180 Route Six, Mahopac (628-0411),
-Thursdays, beginning March 27 from 11am-noon. at Carmel Nutrition Center, 110 Old Route Six, Carmel (225-2500).
All are welcome. For more information, call one of the locations.
