John Valenti Jr. Wins District MX Quad Racing Championship
John Valenti Jr. of Cold Spring has won the 2007 Metropolitan Sports Committee, District 34, MX Quad Racing Championship.
John has been racing for 3 years in the MSC District. The season starts in March and goes through November. It is almost every weekend with some tracks over 2 hours away. He now rides a 2007 Yamaha YFZ 450, with many after market parts. He pointed out in September with 60 points and moved up to the next class, in which he had 3 wins and placed in the top 5 at every race. He had a major set back when he received 3rd degree burns to his left arm in May 2007 and spent 4 days in the Burn Unit at Westchester Medical Center. When his accident occurred, the 2007 race season and championship looked like it was just going to slip away as he was told that maybe he could begin riding in November.
Well as it turned out he was not going to let that happen and worked hard to heal himself to get back to racing. 50 points are needed to be in first place, but with many first place wins he had a total of 60 points and no one could catch him.
On January 27, 2008, at a banquet dinner John received his 6-foot trophy, a plaque for advancement and a Quad championship jacket. It was a grueling year but his family is so proud of him His family and friends, including his parents, John and Cathy Valenti , his (Pit-crew) sister Jessica & girlfriend Heather McGuire, his grandmother, Betty Valenti, all of Cold Spring, and his grandparents Robert and Chickie Galligan currently of Jensen Beach Florida, formerly from Cold Spring, and from all his Aunts, Uncles, cousins and his friends with him good luck for the 2008 season.
