Putnam County Youth Forum Encourages Active Dialogue
The 14th Annual Putnam County Youth Forum takes place on Monday April 14. This daylong conference invites approximately 150 students to participate from area high schools including: Carmel, Brewster, Haldane, Kennedy, Mahopac, North Salem and Putnam Valley.
The confidential setting at Clearpool Education Center in Carmel encourages active dialogue on a variety of topics chosen by a youth-driven Planning Committee of approximately 20 students from the various high schools. Topics include: how to manage family and peer relationships, preparing for, and expectations of, living at college, stress, healthy eating, addictions, legal issues concerning youth and a variety of other issues the Planning Committee believes will be of interest to their peers.
Registration is required and must be approved by school administration and parent. Transportation is provided by the individual school district. Anyone interested in attending the Putnam County Youth Forum should go to their High School Principal's office or call 845-278-6738 for additional information.
Cornell University's Cooperative Extension and the Putnam County Youth Bureau sponsor this program.
