4 For a Cause Wine Dinner, the first wine dinner hosted by the American Red Cross in Greater New York (ARC/GNY) - West Point, will feature the unique culinary talents of four local prominent chefs whose cuisine are enjoyed by many throughout the Hudson Valley.

Proceeds from the palate pleasing experience (Thursday, March 27, 7pm, The Thayer Hotel at West Point), will support the mission of the American Red Cross in Greater New York in the West Point area. ARC/GNY provides disaster relief, health and safety programs, and helps residents prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Tickets are $100 per person and seating is limited. RSVP no later than March 17. For more information, reservations and sponsorships, contact ARC/ GNY - West Point at 845-938- 4100, or visit www.nyredcross.org/westpoint .

Iron Chef Peter X. Kelly will serve as the evening's master of ceremonies. Mr. Kelly was named an Iron Chef in 2007 after winning a challenge on Iron Chef America, a cooking competition program produced by the Food Network. Mr. Kelly operates critically acclaimed restaurants in the Hudson Valley (Xaviars at Piermont along with the adjacent The Freelance Café & Wine Bar, Restaurant X in Congers and X2O Xaviars on the Hudson in Yonkers) and a vineyard in California that produces wines for his restaurants.

The "4 for a cause" will be four chefs from four prominent area restaurants who will create four courses served with four complimentary wines donated by Cornwall Wines & Spirits in Cornwall (www.cornwallwines.com). Each chef will select ingredients and then prepare one of four courses (appetizer, salad, entrée and dessert). Featured chefs are:

* Mohsen Alam El Din from Plumbush Inn in Cold Spring (www.plumbushinn.net), who will prepare the appetizer; * Eric Gabrynowicz from Tavern at Highlands Country Club in Garrison (www.highlandscountryclub.net/ tavern) who will prepare the salad; * Peter Calchera from The Thayer Hotel (www.thethayerhotel.com) at West Point who will prepare the entrée; * Lucie Costa from The River Bank in Cornwall On Hudson (www.theriverbank.biz) who will prepare the dessert.

A "Rate the Plate' judging card will be provided to guests, allowing them to vote for a favorite course. The chef with the highest total of votes at the end of the evening will be presented with a special acknowledgement of culinary creativity.

The American Red Cross in Greater New York is a key humanitarian partner and a vital participant in New York's plans and programs to help the nine million people in New York City and Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Sullivan counties prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
