Putnam Valley Man Charged with Criminal Trespass, Criminal Mischief
Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Putnam Valley man who had broken into a local residence.
Deputy Sheriff Nicholas Piqueras was on patrol in the Town of Putnam Valley on February 21, 2008 at 8:21am when he was dispatched to a report of a suspicious male subject inside a residence. Upon arrival, the deputy encountered Ronald D. Espinosa, 36, of Putnam Valley, in an intoxicated condition and sitting on a couch in the complainant's residence. Mr. Espinosa told the deputy that he had mistakenly entered the complainant's house while on the way home from a night of drinking at a local bar. The deputy's investigation revealed that Mr. Espinosa had damaged a door to the residence while gaining entry. The deputy placed Mr. Espinosa under arrest and charged him with Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, misdemeanors.
The defendant was arraigned at the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court and released in his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1000.00.
