Elizabeth Benjamin Chosen to Compete for Hamilton College Women's Lacrosse Team
Elizabeth Benjamin, daughter of Tamara and John Benjamin of Garrison, has been selected to compete for the Hamilton College women's lacrosse team for the 2008 season.
A junior majoring in anthropology at Hamilton, Benjamin is a graduate of St. Mark's School.
Women's lacrosse, led by coach Patty Kloidt, has a rich tradition that dates back to the program's start in 1979. Hamilton eclipsed the 200-victory mark in 2005, and the Continentals will play their 400th game when they open the 2008 schedule at home against Utica College on March 8.
Hamilton has made 22 postseason appearances, including the NCAA Division In championships in 2000, 2001 and 2007. The Continentals won their third Liberty League regular season title and captured their first league championships tournament crown in 2007 while advancing to the NCAA quarterfinals for the third time.
Hamilton still competes at the NCAA Division III level and is still a member of the Liberty League with Clarkson, Rensselaer, the University of Rochester, St. Lawrence, Skidmore, Union, Vassar and William Smith.
