FDR Presidential Library Presents A Good Time For Beer: Celebrating FDR and the Return of Beer
On Sunday, April 6, 2008, at 3pm, the FDR Presidential Library and Museum will host A Good Time for Beer: Celebrating FDR and the Return of Beer- a special event bringing together an array of Hudson Valley breweries for tastings, a panel discussion on prohibition, beer and brewing, and period entertainment. A special appearance by "The Beer Guys"- who frequently appear on WAMC- will round out the afternoon. A Good Time for Beer will be held in the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Home. Tickets are $15 per person and reservations are required.
Participating breweries include the Albany Pump Station, Brooklyn Brewery, Hyde Park Brewing Company, and Olde Saratoga Brewing Company. The Culinary Institute of America will provide "snacks" to compliment the beer tastings throughout the event. Panelists will include George De Piro, Brewmaster, C.H. Evans Brewing Company at the Albany Pump Station; Paul McErlean, Brewmaster, Olde Saratoga Brewing Company; Jonathan Zearfoss, Chef Instructor, Culinary Institute of America; and Gloria and Bruce Franconi, award-winning home brewers of beer and cider. Period music will be performed by vocalist Mark Raisch.
Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Beer-Wine Revenue Act (enacted April 7, 1933)- legalizing the sale of wine and beer in America- A Good Time for Beer is one of series of events held at the Roosevelt Library in 2008 to promote the Library's new special exhibition, "Action, and Action Now" FDR's First 100 Days. Following the event, attendees can visit the new exhibition in the Roosevelt Library free of charge.
